State troopers say they got a call for an incident around 7:30 p.m. Friday evening in Commack.
Police say a pickup truck was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it struck an SUV. The SUV driver died at the scene, according to police.
The driver of the truck was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
The Sunken Meadow Parkway was closed northbound Friday night and traffic was diverted onto SM3 due to the incident, state police said in a tweet.
Police have not revealed the identities of the drivers or if any charges will be filed.
Video from the scene shows a car that was left completely crumpled.
